Week 4 -123D Fail

Another crash in 123D, when I tried to export our catched model from 123D Catch it once again crashed. It took around 2 hours to start converting and exporting, then it crashed. I thought it may have been my computer that was leading to all these crashes, but after discussion with Anders and other groups, it sounds like a problem all round.

I will attempt to export it once again tonight or tomorrow in class. Anders has started working on the real component of the project by doing some practice with reflections. So we are getting along well according to our time plan outlined in week 3.

Week 4 - The next step with 123D Catch

Now that we have out model working this week will be about joining the two 123D catch meshes together. Currently 123D catch is REALLY slow and glitchy, so hopefully once we export it, we wont have any issues.

Im in the process of exporting the model at in its most detailed form from 123D catch, hopefully we wont have as many problems with this stage of the design.

Exporting the model.

Just how many photos we took to get the model!

Week 4 - 123D Success

After way too much waiting and failed attempts I was able to get 123D Catch to finally work. The outcome is fairly good. The motorbike model is reasonably complete with no real gaps or issues with its materials. It isn't quite as clear as I was originally hoping, but at this stage I'm simply just happy to have a model to work with.

123D Catch, waiting for it to crash!!

Overall 123D catch, fairly good

Good close up detail of body with some blurry areas

Happy that it worked

Even though the process was painful to do with the program crashing so many times, its good to have the final output and see what we have been able to achieve.

Week 4 - 123D Catch Difficulties

We've been having some significant difficulties with 123D Catch, our first attempt at creating a 3D model with this program was on Anders Ipad. After taking around 220 photos we were not able to process the photos with the app or even save the photos to use on the computer program. So following this set back we consulted with the other groups doing the same assessment and were able to grab their photos off them.

Now that we have the photos we need, I have tried using the 123D catch program on the computer using the university's internet. This was not as easy as I had hoped. After uploading the photos and waiting for the program to create the model it stopped working at 99%, which was very irritating. So after waiting for around an hour and a half we had nothing.
I am now currently trying to run the same program at home with my own internet. Hopefully this will be more successful but we will soon find out.

Week 3 - Starting to Model

This is my first attempt at creating the sketchy section of the Illustrator model. I created a new layer, using the drawing tool I went over the original sketch.

I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do it, but it is the way iv started with. I will continue to trial other ways to see if I can find a better way.
